Southern California

  • Verve Coffee Roasters (Manhattan Beach) - 10/10 -

  • Dayglow (Silverlake) - 10/10 - (I got a matcha/espresso)

  • Handlebar Coffee Roasters (Santa Barbara) - 10/10 - (fresh green, oat milk just foamy enough, perfectly unsweet)

  • Scout Coffee Roasters (San Luis Obispo) - 9.5/10 -

  • Gjusta (Venice Beach) - 9/10 - (iced, vibrant green, could be slightly sweeter)

  • Urth Caffe (LAX) - 9/10 (could almost give it a 10 but I know I’ve just been missing matcha for a month so in the interest of fairness)

  • Urth Caffe (Torrance) - 8.5/10 -

  • Blue Butterfly (El Segundo) - 5/10 -

  • Two Guns Espresso (El Segundo) - okay -

  • The Boy and the Bear (Redondo) - okay -

  • Hilltop (Inglewood) - not good -

  • The Source (Hermosa Beach) - 8/10 - (iced with almond milk, tasted a bit old)

  • Copa Vida (Pasadena) - 6/10 - (matcha was dark, but masked by sweetener in oat milk)

  • Bluestone Lane (Manhattan Beach) - 8/10 - (great taste, slightly darkened, brand new place)

  • Sidecar Doughnuts (Manhattan Beach) - 4/10 - (matcha is dirt colored)

  • Honey Hi (Echo Park) - 5/10 - (matcha is great, pumpkin seed milk not so much)

  • Brio Brio (Lake Forest) - 3/10 (not fresh matcha at all, too sweet, $7 for an iced matcha)

  • Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (Laguna Hills) - 6.5/10 - (good fresh flavor, too sweet, crushed ice in iced is a weird touch)

  • Goodboybob Coffee Roasters (Manhattan Beach) - 8/10 - (just needs more matcha)

  • Cafe Gitana (Hermosa Beach) - 8/10 - (needs to be a little sweeter, but excellent green color)


Northern California

  • Altamont Gen. (Occidental) - 10/10 greener w/ every sip

  • Steelhead Coffee (Cal Heights, San Francisco) - 9/10 - (iced w oat, unsweetened)

  • Avid Coffee (Sebastopol) - good -

  • Taylor Lane (Sebastopol) - very not good -

  • Howard’s Station (Occidental, CA) - 3/10 - (matcha was old and grey)

  • Hardcore Espresso (Sebastopol) - 4/10 - (not vibrant green, needed honey to mask the taste)

  • Sightglass (Divisadero, San Francisco) - 8/10 - (an excellent matcha with oat, no WiFi and not many places to sit, too many hipsters with beanies around)

  • Andy town (Sunset, San Francisco) - 8.5/10 - (iced with oat milk)


Texas

  • Try Hard Coffee (East Austin) - 6.5/10 - (tastes like house made oat, got it iced, a little dark for my liking)

  • Two Hands (SoCo, Austin) - 9.5/10 - (iced with oat, perfect ratio of matcha powder to water/milk, a little sweet)

  • Carpenter Coffee (Barton Springs, Austin) - 8/10 - (light green, could use more matcha powder, but perfectly sweetened with oat milk, iced)

  • Greater Goods Coffee Co. (East Austin) - 8.5/10 - (beautifully bright green, housemade cashew/etc. milk is really good, lacks a tiny bit of sweet)


Rockies

  • Lost Coffee (Aurora, CO) - 6/10 - (not thoroughly mixed, but fresh; Molly said tastes like grass)

  • Moab Garage Co. (Moab, UT) - 5/10 - (not ceremonial grade, a little watery, but at least it’s bright green)

  • Publik Coffee House (Salt Lake City, UT) - 10/10 - (perfect, oat milk, great color and level of sweetness)

  • Clyde Coffee (Missoula, MT) - 8.5/10 - (well mixed if a little bit dark, but perfectly sweetened. Could be bigger)

  • Persephone Bakery (Jackson, WY) - 9/10 - I can’t honestly remember from the photo alone, but it looks bright green and perfectly frothed


Arizona

  • Moxie Coffee Co. (Phoenix, AZ) - 9/10 - (classic ceremonial, lightly if at all sweetened)

  • Cartel Roasting Co. (Tempe) - Nearing great -

  • Toasted Owl (Flagstaff) - Solid -


Washington

  • Retreat (Green Lake, WA) - perfection
